DS3231 AT24C32 High Precision Real-Time Clock Module

DS3231 AT24C32 High Precision Real-Time Clock

High‑precision I²C real‑time clock module based on the DS3231 with onboard AT24C32 EEPROM and battery backup, perfect for timekeeping in Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi projects.

Long‑Range IR Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Compatibility

Works with Arduino boards (Uno, Nano, Mega and similar) over the I²C bus using the SDA and SCL pins. Fully compatible with ESP32, ESP32‑S3, and ESP32‑C3 boards at 3.3 V I²C logic. Works with Raspberry Pi boards via the I²C interface when powered from 3.3 V.
Can be used with most 3.3 V or 5 V microcontrollers that support I²C, including many STM32 and other MCU families.

Key Features

High‑precision DS3231 real‑time clock chip with integrated temperature compensation

AT24C32 32‑Kbit EEPROM for additional non‑volatile storage on the same module

I²C interface (SDA, SCL) compatible with 3.3 V and 5 V microcontrollers

Battery‑backed RTC keeps time during power loss (coin cell holder on board)

Provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year with leap‑year compensation

Onboard pull‑up resistors and header pins for easy breadboard or jumper‑wire connections

Ideal for data logging, clocks, scheduling, and automation projects

Technical Specs

RTC IC: DS3231 (temperature‑compensated RTC)

EEPROM IC: AT24C32 (32‑Kbit I²C EEPROM)

Interface: I²C (SDA, SCL)

Operating Voltage: typically 3.3 V–5 V

Time Format: 24‑hour or 12‑hour with AM/PM

Calendar: Full calendar with automatic leap‑year correction

Backup Battery: Coin‑cell holder (battery policy can be specified in the listing)

Form Factor: Small PCB with pin headers suitable for breadboards

Ideal Uses

Data logging projects that need accurate timestamps even when the device is powered off.

DIY clocks, alarms, and time‑based automation (lights, relays, scheduling systems).

IoT devices that spend long periods offline and cannot rely on network time.

Educational projects demonstrating I²C, timekeeping, and non‑volatile memory storage.

Any microcontroller project that needs reliable timekeeping across resets and power cycles.

What’s Included

  • 1 × DS3231 AT24C32 High Precision Clock Module

Safety Note

Always double‑check your wiring before powering the module, especially when mixing 3.3 V and 5 V systems, to avoid damaging the RTC or your microcontroller.

If you include a coin cell, do not short‑circuit or expose it to heat, and keep it out of reach of children and pets due to ingestion and burn hazards.

Avoid connecting the module’s I²C pins directly to higher‑voltage logic than it is rated for; use level shifting or power it from a compatible voltage when in doubt.
